Guilt and Responsibility

Guilt and Responsibility.

When you take responsibility for your actions you can no longer be affected or controlled by guilt. Don’t Feel bad for what you have done. Own up to it, admit it and then take measures to remedy it. When you have done that there is absolutely no reason to feel bad or guilty.

Make it one something that you learn from. Everything that happens to us in life is a lesson. Unfortunately lessons are often disguised as bad things or tragedies because that is how the lesson gets our attention. If the lesson was wonderful and tasted like chocolate it wouldn’t stop you in your tracks and make you think. You would be so delighted to have the chocolate that the lesson would be missed.

Once you have taken ownership and responsibility for your actions you can release the deed out into the ether because you have dealt with it. Holding on to it does nothing but breed negativity and resentment within you. Oh and it doesn’t matter whether your apology or actions are accepted by the other person. That is not your responsibility. You have done all you can, what they do with that is up to them. You have set yourself free and you can only be responsible for your feeling and your actions.

If you have made a genuine apology and it is not accepted there is nothing more you can do, likewise if you have tried to put right a wrong and the other person is still unhappy or doesn’t want to talk to you any more that is their choice. Wish them well and leave them be, if you have done all you can then that is enough, the rest is up to them.

Guilt will only keep you trapped and rooted to something bad, there are some people who are stuck in guilt and that is the base they operate from, but part of that is a choice. They have gotten comfortable with feeling uncomfortable but it is not your job to change them and whatever you do don’t feel guilty about it either.

As adults we can only ever be truly responsible for our own thoughts and actions…… have a great day my confidence warriors.
